Barrett – Jackson Classic Car Auction

While we were at Borrego Springs we realized the Barrett-Jackson auction was taking place in Scottsdale, AZ.  So we packed up in the morning and headed that way. We parked at the Elks Lodge in Tempe for 3 nights. It’s only about 20 minutes up to Scottsdale from there.  I  love looking at these classic beauties. We walked over 4 miles looking at all the entries. We had to park about 3 miles away but BJ had hired plenty of buses picking up visitors at all the parking areas and they dropped you at the gate.   Over the course of six days, nearly 1,400 vehicles were sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale event totaling more than $113 million in sales.   The highest selling vehicle was  a 1967 Corvette L88 2 Door Coupe which sold for $3.85 million, making it the most expensive Corvette ever to sell at an auction. Other vehicles that broke world records included  1967 Corvette L88 selling for $2.86 million and 1957 Thunderbird E Convertible which went for $330,000.  I was amazed to see a very cute 1961 VW Bus sell for $146,000, Oh My!   I’m just posting a few of the photos I took during our visit.
