A Rendezvous with RV Friends

One of the best parts of being an RVer is when we get an opportunity to meet up with our buddies along the trail.  While we were parked in Sun City Arizona, we were invited to  visit with Chuck and Jan at their home.  Originally from Iowa, they were full time RVers for many years. A few years ago they decided to take on a new chapter. They purchased a home and only travel part of the year in their motorhome.  Betty and Duane have done the same for now.  Sue, Bill, Judie and Mark stopped for a few days at the Elks Lodge nearby so we were able to all plan what we call a “MiniRang”.  What a day it was. We all laughed for hours at some of our experiences, events and stories.  Wow, we could write a very funny book. Thank you Chuck and Jan for the invite!

We then moved down I-10 to Apache Junction.  We stayed here last year about the same time. We like the Moose Lodge and as members they will allow dry camping behind the building for a donation.  Members may bring guests, so Sue and Bill joined us for a few nights also.
We enjoyed our happy hours on the patio. Tuesday and Friday the lodge has the “Queen of Hearts” drawing so we participated in that but heck we didn’t win anything.  The location was just what we needed for picking up our mail, shopping and getting laundry done.

Filly’s Roadhouse is just a couple miles from the lodge and we all enjoyed an afternoon there. Our Xscaper friends Yvonne and Jim were parked at the lodge so we all had fun listening to the Country  music band.

Bright Sunshine, Wings, Burgers, Buckets of Beer and good friends. What more can you ask for?
Many local cowboys and cowgirls rode in on horseback to enjoy the afternoon and the Boot Scootin’ Boogie. They lined up at the fence and their horses performed tricks for us all.

Betty and Duane invited us to their cute house in Sun Lakes. We walked along their beautiful golf course and lakes up to their clubhouse for lunch.  They are preparing for a South American Cruise so we didn’t stay long after lunch. We were just glad to enjoy a couple hours with them.

Thanks Betty and Duane for a fun afternoon and the tour of the Sun lakes Country Club complex.
Love your front door sign Betty, not your traditional Spanish slogan...

After a few days here at the Moose Lodge discussing travel plans, we have decided we need to head to Louisiana for some Cajun Food and Zydeco Music. Best of all, an opportunity to revisit those sneaky Alligator swamps and  Bird rookeries for some photo Ops.  Gotta Love the Wildlife of the Bayou.

Bill and Sue are headed to Texas Gulf to stay in the Padre Island area.  Just maybe we will entice them to hang out in Louisiana with us a little later.  Bring your Spoons Sue!

So here we go…. on the road again. Bidding farewell to the Superstition Mountains and the Arizona desert landscapes.  We have mapped out very strategic travel plans that change daily, if not hourly; we will keep you posted.
