There are two things that come to mind when your hear the words Yellowstone National Park. Geysers and Wildlife. We have hit as many trails, boardwalks and vistas of Many of the geysers in the various basins. Someone told me “If you’ve seen one geyser, you’ve seen them all” I don’t agree with that at all. They are all so different. However, if I only had 3 days to see Yellowstone I would stay at the Old Faithful Inn and explore that area and then make the drive to the Lower Geyser Basin. That way you’d see many geysers and the possibility of wildlife. The Old Faithful Inn is an amazing structure. It was a miracle that it was saved during the 1988 wildfire. What a loss that would have been. If you don’t stay there, just treat yourself to viewing an architectural beauty and go look inside the lobby. Amazing!
We got very lucky to see this one. It erupts every 9 – 16 hours and we happened to be driving along Firehole lake Drive when it began erupting. It lasted about 20 minutes or more shooting over 150 feet in the air at times. This is in Lower Geyser basin
Black Sand Basin is also a beautiful area for geysers.
In the vicinity of Old Faithful there are numerous boardwalks and all worth taking to see the many different geysers and deep pools of steaming water.
