It’s hard to believe that we just celebrated Labor Day and the summer is slowly sinking into the past. It seems like we just arrived in Nevada. But already we have spent 3 months off the road. There have been many fun times this summer. I’ll try to touch on a few of them.
Laurie, Marsha, Sue and I were very fortunate to have two get-togethers over the summer one in Walnut Creek and one at the Cabin in the Sierras.
Cousin “niece” Denise turned 50 this year. A party put on by Natalie was a total success AND a Surprise for Denise.
Here we all are Fifty Years ago!
Dad Celebrated his 91st Birthday in August. We had a great dinner at the Carson Valley Country Club in Minden Nevada.
Then we went to the cabin. Dad stayed with his cousin Bill and the girls came to the cabin for several days. We all went to The Iron Door in Johnsville for a birthday party. We took the long way down the dirt road which took us about 3 hours to arrive at the restaurant. That is part of the adventure. We took the shorter route back… only 1 1/2 hours.
Gina took a few days and came to the cabin and we finally had a chance to catch up on each others lives. Several years have passed since she was here.
Mark had a birthday September 1st turning 57! He spent quite a few days on Lake Tahoe this summer fishing out of his boat. His favorite pastime. Neighbor of Dad’s, Tim accompanied him. Tim was extremely lucky catching the Mackinaw and Rainbows 🙂
One of the more notable occurrences in the Carson Valley this summer was the terrible Smoke from the Yosemite Wildfire. It was day after day of thick smoke flowing north up the valley choking out the sun, and causing many people with breathing problems to stay indoors. Such a tragedy for many people, animals and property in the Yosemite area. Then around the same time, a wild fire started just a few miles from us so we were surrounded by smoke and ash.
