Panama City Beach, Florida

Last night we were in  Foley, Alabama at a nice RV park called  Magnolia Springs Majestic RV Hideaway.  It was recommended by another RV friend we met in Louisiana. Quaint… but suddenly we realized that Thanksgiving was two days away.  This was not where I had envisioned spending Thanksgiving.  Just a bit too much of a Hideaway for me!.. So up went the jacks and we headed for the Florida Panhandle.  The State park we wanted to stay in was Full for the holiday weekend (St. Andrews State Park)  so we opted for Panama City Beach RV Resort. It is right across the street from the beach. The sites were spacious, heated swimming pool, free WiFi and since there were under 100 sites, it was relatively quiet. Pet friendly but watch out for the Sand Spurs, they are everywhere.

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville.  Everything else in town was closed. We enjoyed it and the outside dining across from the beach was especially nice.

I’ve Been a “ParrotHead” ever since I first saw Jimmy perform at Lake Tahoe to a very small audience at Squaw Valley in the 70’s.

The next day we wandered into the St. Andrew’s State Park. It was just about 1 mile from the RV Park. The fee is $8.00 per vehicle and pets are welcome on leash but not on the beach. The birds were beautiful. They were in the pine trees, on the piers and along the beach. Here are a few of my photos I took that day.

This is a State Park we plan to re-visit on the trip West.  Leaving today headed for Savannah, Georgia.
