Congress, Arizona

This is a small town just outside of Wickenburg, AZ. Once a thriving little town during the mining and railroad days is now considered a Ghost town. The population is under 2000 people, many of which are retired. We like to visit this area and usually do in the Spring and Fall. We stay at the Escapees RV park called North Ranch located on Highway 89. We generally meet up with other RV friends when we stay here. This trip we planned to stop in and visit Ron and Elena.  Elena is always baking something yummy and she and Mark exchange goodies when we get together.  Elena and I spent over two hours Sunday afternoon having lunch at Anita’s in Wickenburg enjoying some girl time.  I enjoy talking to Ron about computers because he is so knowledgeable and usually has researched his information completely before giving advice.

Congress may be a Ghost town but they have the most awesome restaurant you could ever wish for. Its called NICHOLS WEST located at 22525 W. State Rt 71.  If you are EVER passing through Congress on your way to or from Prescott you owe it to yourself to stop in for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner and you will not be disappointed I guarantee. The food is excellent, not your typical run of the mill cafe. The four of us had breakfast here on Thursday and shown below are some photos of our choices. Mark and I have had Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner here and  everything was totally delicious and served with a gourmet flair. Hours are Mon – Sun 8am – 8pm, they have a full bar and takeout.

We had planned to stay in Congress two nights and ended up staying Six nights. We had a nice visit with our friends, made a trip to Surprise, AZ for groceries and now we are heading to Page, Arizona so I can spend more time in the slot canyons taking photographs.
